FAQ
What is in a kit?+−
One of three stocked cartons (Small, Medium, or Large) and a 100 mm foam pack. Each face of the pack is two 25 mm sheets glued together. We cut a cavity to your artwork so the piece cannot slide. No bubble wrap layers, no hunting for a box that fits.
How do I know which kit to buy?+−
Measure the work’s width, height, and depth (including stretcher bars or frame). Use the size finder — it recommends the smallest box that can take that face size. You can rotate the work in the plane of the canvas; depth does not rotate.
How thick can the work be?+−
Standard kits are built for work up to 50 mm thick. If your artwork is thinner, we add padding so it cannot bounce during transit. If it is thicker than 50 mm, contact us with width, height, and depth before you order so we can see whether we can accommodate it. Leave glass out of frames if you can — it is heavy, it breaks, and it eats depth.
Is this for sculptures or 3D work?+−
No. These kits are for 2D work: paintings, canvases, prints, drawings, and similar pieces that sit in a shallow cavity.
Do you ship outside Australia?+−
Not yet. Kits ship Australia-only at a flat rate of A$12.00.
Are prices inclusive of GST?+−
Yes. Every price on the site is in Australian dollars and includes GST.
Can I reuse the kit?+−
If the box and foam come back in good shape, yes. The foam is meant to be used more than once for studio-to-buyer shipments.
What if a work arrives damaged?+−
The kit is designed to stop the work sliding around in transit, which is the usual cause of corner dings. Photograph the packed work before you send it, and if something goes wrong email hello@smartpacking.com.au with clear photos. Your buyer’s rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected.
How soon do you dispatch?+−
Paid orders are packed by hand in Perth. We cut the foam to your artwork sizes, then post Australia-wide. We will be in touch about timing — see the Shipping & returns page for how packing works.
